E.W. Jackson Endorses Michael Schoelwer for RPV Chair

Dear Delegates to the RPV State Convention,

Friends, I am most pleased to announce that STAND President Bishop E. W. Jackson has endorsed me for the position of Chairman of the Republican Party of Virginia (RPV).

I am the grassroots candidate in this election race. As a GOP County Committee chairman, myself, I know that the heart and soul of the RPV are in the local committees and local chapters of our affiliated organizations. As such, I welcome Grassroots endorsements. That said, I have declined to ask for the endorsements of our current or former high-level elected officials. I have the utmost respect for the institutions in which they serve and support them whenever possible. However, I am uncomfortable when they work to influence elections inside the RPV. I think elected officials work for us, not the other way around, and it gives me pause when they want to select our RPV leaders – the leaders who hold the elected officials accountable for upholding our conservative principles.

Bishop Jackson is a friend to us all. He leads an organization dedicated solely to preserving our values, freedom of religion, and independence. If anyone is qualified to lecture us on ethics and choices, it is he. I am honored to have his endorsement.

Mike Schoelwer
Chairman, Lancaster County Republican Party
Candidate, Chairman of the RPV

E. W. Jackson endorses Michael Schoelwer for RPV Chairman in August 2020.

Dear Delegate,

It has been profoundly disappointing to witness the dramatic shift in Virginia politics. My ancestry in this state dates back at least 200 years. I am proud of my roots in Virginia as the state of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, James Madison, George Mason, Booker T. Washington and so many other patriots.

Therefore it has been heartbreaking to witness Virginia moving in such an un-American direction. The far left, Godless, socialist politics of the Democratic Party have usurped control in Virginia. They hold seven of the eleven congressional seats. They control the house, senate and all three state constitutional offices. It is hard to fathom that it was the reverse just a few years ago.

Some of this unwelcome change is the result of demographic shifts and redistricting. However, some of it has to be laid at the feet of Republican leadership. We have been out-fundraised, out-organized, out-campaigned and out-voted. That is our fault.

While we have faced electoral debacle after debacle, I was not once called on to help our Party. I have spoken to other influential Republicans who have said the same thing. This is not about ego gratification. It is about leadership that will marshal every asset we have to win elections. Of course, you cannot win if you don’t field candidates. A political party that does not put up candidates for office, is not worthy of the name.

We all want to win again in Virginia and take back this great Commonwealth from the radical leftists. To do this, we need the right leadership. I am convinced that Mike Schoelwer is the right person at the right time. Mike will listen and is the best way to move forward. I am confident he will assemble a team of staff and volunteers who will put the Republican Party on a path toward victory again in Virginia.

Mike has the discipline and leadership experience to execute a plan. He was on active in the duty U.S. Marine Corps from 1976 to 1989, and in the Marine Reserves from 1989 to 2004. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant on May 16, 1976. While in the Fleet Marine Forces (FMF), he served as an infantry platoon leader, company commander, and a battalion and regimental staff officer. He is a combat veteran of Desert Storm/Desert Shield and a number of other military operations. He is also a graduate of Notre Dame, and earned Masters degrees from Georgetown and the Defense Intelligence College.

After military service, Mike spent 28 years in the Central Intelligence Agency’s Directorate of Operations (DO). Both his military and CIA training and experience taught him to efficiently acquire and analyze large amounts of raw data, ascertain trends, formulate effective responses and implement them. That is the kind of leadership skill we need at RPV and we need him now. State elections in 2021 are already bearing down on us even while we focus on the presidential, congressional and Senate races.

Mike understands grassroots politics because he has been active in the Republican Party since retiring from federal service in 2014. He joined the Lancaster County Republican Committee (LCRC), volunteered and led in media campaigns, door-knocking and voter registration. He planned and hosted campaign events. Three years ago, he was elected Chairman of the LCRC and still holds that position.

Michael Schoelwer has the background, the experience, the leadership and the energy to turn the downward trend of defeat in Virginia’s Republican Party into upward trajectory toward victory. I am 100% behind him and urge every delegate not only to give Mike a chance, but to give our Party a chance to turn this situation round. He is the standout candidate and the best hope we have. Let’s make the most of this opportunity by electing Mike as Chairman of RPV.

God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the Commonwealth of Virginia and the United States of America to beat back the forces that are trying to destroy the Commonwealth and the America we know and love.

For Virginia & America,
Bishop E.W. Jackson, Sr.
