With only a short time left before we vote, I wanted to reiterate my support for Michael Shoelwer to be the next Chairman of RPV. I have nothing against the other two candidates. In fact, one of them will be my second choice, and whoever wins will have my full support.
However, at this critical moment in the Commonwealth’s history the Chairmanship of Virginia’s Republican Party requires an effective leader who can rebuild our Party and help us win future elections. We have been losing for years now. The first question we as Republicans should be asking ourselves is: who will bring to the job the discipline and data analysis necessary to develop a strategy for winning? The second question is: who has the organizational skill to implement that strategy?
Our priority should not be a charismatic spokesperson or a political insider. We need an architect who is going to focus like a laser on building the Virginia Republican Party, and we need that person yesterday! Our Party must be built to respond to demographic changes, to out-organize the massive effort by radical Democrats to flip Virginia, to register more conservative voters and to mobilize our people to get to the polls in unprecedented numbers.
We need a Chairman who will ask more of us than we have ever given and will give more to our cause than we imagined. I am convinced that Mike Schoelwer is the right person at the right time.
Frankly, I have been disappointed by the attacks on his wife and questions about his attitude toward Islam. First, his wife is not running for Chairman. Secondly, Mike fought in Afghanistan against radical Islam. His commitment to our Constitution and to standing against the Muslim Brotherhood, Islamists and Sharia Law in America is beyond question.
I urge every delegate to vote for Mike, and I commit to being there to help him every step of the way. Other candidates have not asked for my help. He has, which is not to suggest that I am important, but rather that Mike is someone who will leave no stone unturned in the quest to restore Virginia to conservative governance.
Rest assured, that I will work with whoever wins. I will also be in touch with you over the next three months to seek your help in making sure that Donald Trump wins Virginia.
God bless you, your family and God bless the Commonwealth of Virginia.
For God & Country,
Bishop E.W. Jackson
